Traditional freshman

A traditional freshman is someone who graduated from high school within the past 5 years and have 0 – 29 transferable college course credits.

• Minimum High School GPA 2.0
• English proficiency – Applicants whose primary language is not English, and have not attended an institution of higher education within the U.S., must show proof of English proficiency through one of these options.

Non-traditional freshman

A non-traditional freshman is someone who graduated from high school 5+ years ago and has 0 – 29 transferable college course credits.

• Equivalent to US high school diploma
• English proficiency – Applicants whose primary language is not English, and have not attended an institution of higher education within the U.S., must show proof of English proficiency through one of these options.

Transfer students

A transfer student is someone who has earned 30+ transferable college course credits, regardless of high school graduation date.

• Cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or above (based on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted
• English proficiency – Applicants whose primary language is not English, and have not attended an institution of higher education within the U.S., must show proof of English proficiency through one of these options.

An I-20 is a document needed for those requesting a student visa to attend a US school. If required do not complete Next Steps until you have been issued an I-20 from MGA.

Obtaining an I-20 from MGA

Step 1: Complete the Affidavit of financial support: /admissions/docs/Affidavit_of_Financial_Support.pdf

Step 2: Supporting financial documentation:

1. Provide a bank statement or letter on a signed bank letterhead, showing $30,014 (Undergraduate) or $29,052 (Graduate)
2. Bank statements or bank letters must be in English.
3. Issue date must be within the past six months

1. If you currently have an I-20 from another US institution, please complete the transfer in form and return to along with your supporting financial documents and affidavit of support /admissions/docs/F1_Student_Transfer_In_Form.pdf
