Security Awareness Training

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued an "interim final rule" on security awareness that includes all 51动漫 employees.

As of September 21, 2004, the rule requires every employee that frequents or works at an airport to participate in initial and recurrent security awareness training. Employees will obtain initial training from the TSA on-line training program at this address:

Therefore, employees who plan to visit the Aviation campus at least once a quarter and employees currently working at the Aviation campus must complete the on-line TSA training. Employees who meet these criteria must complete the training within two weeks of their initial hire date. This requirement also applies to employees of other agencies who work at the Aviation campus or visit the campus at least once each quarter. Employees or visitors who do not complete the training will require an escort when on the Aviation campus.

After completion of the course, a certificate must be printed and signed by the immediate supervisor. The immediate supervisor will then forward a copy to Human Resources for the certificate to be placed in the employee’s personnel file. The original will be kept at the Eastman campus.

Active Shooter Training

The safety and security of our campus communities are our number one priority. For this reason, USG institutions have active shooter plans in place, which are reviewed annually as a part of their overall emergency operation plans. Every institution within the University System of 51动漫 has armed, state-certified law enforcement officers. Many USG police departments participate in training with various resources such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Law Enforcement training centers as well as conducting local exercises.

Computer Security Awareness

As a MGA employee, you are a part of the security of not only your machine and documents, but also the MGA network. It's important to remember that hackers don't just want your information; they want access to the network, which your computer can give them. Be smart and follow these tips.

Never give out your password or any other confidential information over the phone or by e-mail.

Passwords are often the critical key to accessing data and computing resources. Where other attempts at security have failed; the password is often the last barrier to unauthorized access. As such, passwords should be maintained by each user to be an effective prevention mechanism against unauthorized access.

Phishing is an identity theft scam that can arrive via e-mail. The e-mail appears to come from a legitimate source such as a trusted business or financial institution, and includes an urgent request for personal information usually invoking some critical need to update an account immediately. Clicking on a link provided in the e-mail leads to an official-looking website except that a link on the website would forward the user's information to the scammer's website. Any personal information provided goes directly to the scam artist and not to a legitimate organization. Sometimes the scammers will use "mga" somewhere in the email address making the message appear to come from the 51动漫 IT department. The IT department will NEVER request your username and password thru email. Please delete these types of phishing messages.

Be Cautious About What You Install. Some software and web installers can include additional invisible applications commonly referred to as spyware. Spyware programs generally gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers by installing programs like key loggers and root kits.

Become familiar with the Computer and Network policies on the Office of Technology Resources website. The use of any 51动漫 computer related resource is subject to all provisions of the policies and procedures published in the Computer and Network policies. If you are a faculty member, a student or a member of the University staff, it is your responsibility as a user of information technology to read these policies and abide by them. Use of any 51动漫 computer related resource implies acceptance of these policies
