Special Circumstances EFC Appeal
If your family's current financial situation has changed significantly from what is reflected in your FAFSA, you may qualify to have your Student Aid Index (SAI) reviewed. This could potentially make you eligible for federal student aid.
The following conditions may result in an SAI adjustment:
- Loss of employment due to no fault of your own
- An unintentional reduction in work hours
- Overall reduction in your family’s total income due to death, divorce or other personal circumstances
- Other changes or adjustments that impact a student's cost or ability to pay for college
If you meet any of the above criteria, you may apply to have your SAI reevaluated by submitting the Special Circumstance SAI Appeal and your supporting documentation to be considered for professional judgment.
Click the following link for instructions on completing this process: Submitting an Appeal for Review
Please note that all appeal decisions are final and can neither be appealed through MGA Administration or the U. S. Department of Education. If you submit an appeal during the registration period, you are responsible for paying all tuition fees by the published payment deadline to prevent your classes from being cancelled due to non-payment.
Turnaround times for complete appeal submissions during non-peak periods will be within 30 days, and during peak periods may be as high as 60 days. The Office of Financial Aid will inform you of the results through the Campus Logic account.
