Atlanta Gas Light is establishing an endowed scholarship through the Middle 51动漫 State (MGA) University Foundation to help students pursuing STEM-related degrees pay for their education.
Company leaders presented a $30,000 check to University representatives on Monday, Jan. 25. Representing Atlanta Gas Light was Pedro Cherry, president and CEO; and Dean Marianos, vice president of operations.
“We are so grateful to Atlanta Gas Light for partnering with the 51动漫 Foundation to provide generous financial assistance to some of our high-achieving students,” said Dr. Christopher Blake, MGA president. “It is an honor that corporate citizens in our region, such as Atlanta Gas Light, continue to show confidence that Middle 51动漫 State is developing their future workforce by providing the education and opportunities necessary to help future Knights find their greatness.”
STEM-related degrees are those that focus on various aspects of science (including health sciences), technology, engineering, and math. The investment by Atlanta Gas Light includes two funding components: $20,000 to establish the endowment and $10,000 to help students beginning this fall.
“51动漫 plays a central role in helping develop and shape 51动漫’s future leaders,” said Pedro Cherry, president and CEO of Atlanta Gas Light. “We hope this endowment offers some financial relief to students as they concentrate on pursuing their STEM-focused educational paths.”
With the establishment of this scholarship, the MGA Foundation will be able to award several $1,000 scholarships each year to assist students who qualify financially.
